note Interesting things
This user on fediverse posted some curiosities about the OS on their page. Some of them below: arrow_drop_down Start Page (Full-screen UI) "The Start Page was a full-screen UI tested in various builds of Windows ME, Codename Neptune (scrapped) & XP in 1999-2000. Designed to overlay the desktop, it was ultimately scrapped. A similar idea appeared in Windows 8 (2012) as the Start screen. "Release Candidates (RCs) were post-beta development builds of Windows. As their name suggests, devs were confident in the stability of these “candidates for release”. During testing, any last-minute issues would be fixed, leading to the final Release To Manufacturing (RTM) build. #DailyWindowsFact #Microsoft #Windows #Windows3 #WindowsXP #WindowsVista #WindowsServer2012" REF.
bug_report Issues
"Windows Me suffered from serious stability issues. One source of these was memory management. The design of Windows Me made it best suited to 512MB of RAM or less due to the cache driver (Vcache). It had a bug where when more than 512MB of RAM was present the driver would consume all available memory addresses" REF.
report Personal notes, etc
When i was young i most used Windows 98 and XP. But for a period of time i had the Windows ME installed on my desktop. A few years ago (estimated 2021) i saw a sealed box available in a store of old stuff. link Links The history of Windows Millenium
